Checking In............

It's been a while...but since Paula said let's keep the blog up - for motivation and *ahem* accountability - I'm game.

I didn't wear a swimsuit at Keuka - didn't make that goal - and I haven't in fact worn one yet this summer. I also have only run once in the past several weeks - with Becky at the cottage. I plan on running today. Gotta' get back into it or I'll quit for sure.

I haven't been drinking my water like I used to (in school I carried my big bottle everywhere). I've also abandoned the little plate theory which I plan to resurrect again today. I know it helped.

I really haven't been snacking much believe it or not. But drinking beer doesn't help and if you think about the calories - just 4 lite beers has over 400 calories - so I'm crossing beer off my list for a while. That should make a little dent.

I have the Core List from Weight Watchers that Terri gave me - but I have a hard time staying to a list. I'm going to give it a shot though and try to write down everything I eat. I read an article yesterday that said a study showed that people who keep a food journal lose 50% more weight than those who don't. Makes sense. I've always been part of the "if I don't write it down I didn't eat it " club. Kind of like the "if someone eats it with you you cancel each other's calories out" theory.

Blah.............

I didn't run this week. Austin being sick threw me off. I was all geared up to go Tuesday & have Mike watch him but he had an appt. with a customer and had to leave. I tossed Austin in the stroller and took him for a 2 mile walk. i tried to run with the stroller (one handed) but it was awkward. I ended up running about 1/4 of a mile but that was all.

I am going to try today. I feel so freaking fat that I can't stand it. I look like I'm 6 months pregnant. My mojo is waning big time.

Chekcing In....

It sounds like we've all been on an upward swing since the wedding. I think Nicky's idea about a 5k is great! We could do it! (but a Marathon????) Don't think so Nicky!

I know for me - I've been lazy about making healthy recipes. I tend to grab what's available which isn't always what's best for me. It's much easier when I'm working...I am in control of what I bring for lunch. When I'm home...it's a different story.

I'm losing my motivation to run - mainly because in spite of the effort I'm not getting the rewards I've wanted. But I'm not going to give up yet. I need to do something every day. Maybe I'll walk on the days I don't run and eventually run every day. It's just so hard to do something alone. There's no accountability....no one to say "C'mon! Get off your duff" when you don't feel like doing it.

For sure - let's plan a good walk while we're at Keuka. (Speaking of which....has anyone told Craig & Debbie we're not coming?") Becky & Nate aer going to the lake this Friday to spend a week there (and go visit his grandparents while they're there at Waneta Lake.) We're coming down Thursday and Yellie & Dan are coming Thursday night or Friday morning. Friday are the fireworks at our lake and I'm assuming we're having the Birthday Bash on Saturday, right?

Gotta' run for now. Austin is home today puking. It was a fun night. Lots of laundry to do as a result.....

Happy Thursday....

Well I didn't do so hot Monday with the running. After 13 minutes I decided to walk 3 the I ran another 7. I was dragging for some reason. It was the first time I gave in and walked. Yesterday I did 21 minutes straight and I was fine. I guess Monday was just one of those days...

So I'm doing my weight lifting - exercising 3 times a week with the running and eating less than normal (not always wise choices but less) and I've gained 2 pounds. This sucks.

I will say that my body feels tighter and I know the other benefits I'm getting from the running and weights are still worth it as far as my heart and lungs go. So I'm in this for the long haul. But still.....I thought I'd be losing by now. I guess I should aim to exercise on the off days too. I just don't feel like running every day. Maybe I'll walk on the days I don't run. or do that weird Gazelle thing Mike bought me.

Nicky - you should check out the Healthy Girl link on the blog here and subscribe to it. It has great recipes for everything under the sun and how to make them good for you. There's a cookbook too that just came out that I may get. You should check that out too - and then you can make great meals for your new hubby that are tasty and not loaded with calories and fat. (not that Raphe needs to watch his weight!)

How is everyone else doing? Anyone up for a walk this weekend?

Monday ~ a new week....

Sounds like everyone is still hanging in there. Welcome back from the honeymoon Nicky! (I didn't forget your gift...I get it over to you soon!)

Has everyone recovered from Wedding let-down? We need something new to look forward to now!

I supposed to run 25 minutes straight 3 days this week according to my Cto5k schedule. I'm aiming for 20 today - 21 Wed. and 22 Thursday. Rome wasn't built in a day you know.....

Mary - when you did your running - how far/long did you run and how often? My goal is to actually run a 5k (3.3 miles) eventually - but for exercise to run 2 miles daily. So far I haven't crapped out on this which amazes me - especially since I'm not seeing the results I was hoping for. But the fact that I can do it and not be out of breath is enough to keep me going. My body is at the stage where it's ready to let me down if I don't keep at it.

I have a phone interview tomorrow afternoon with a Charter School (True North prep School). Say a prayer that maybe this one will decide to hire me!

Okay - gotta go run. Stay cool!

Checking in on my fellow hogettes....

I ran 20 minutes straight - no stopping today - in the rain! 20 minutes is a big accomplishment for me - the person who hated to run and swore she would never ever take it up as a form of exercise!

The cool thin is - this Cto5k thing has helped me condition my heart and lungs so that I'm able to do it, not once- since I started this ting have I had a stitch in my side. used to be I' get really out of breath and pant and gasp when I stopped. Now I breathe fine and am not really out of breath when I stop - I just sweat like a pig.

I wish the scale would budge more though...I guess I need to work on the eating more.

How is everyone else doing? Anyone want to schedule a weekend walk for one of these days?

Hanging in there.....

Okay - we'll keep things going here to keep us motivated for the Keuka Dock unveiling.

I did NOT want to run yesterday - thought of every reason why I couldn't ( shouldn't...wouldn't) but in the end I sucked it up and did it. I wish I was seeing results faster. One would thing that since I'm exercising more than I have in a very long time - the pounds would be moving downward. I'm eating less too. Albeit - not a LOT less...but still less.

It's frustrating. I looked at pics of myself from the wedding and wanted to vomit.

I'm hanging in there though.
