Day Thirteen....

So today's the day for our big walk and it's freaking 37 degrees right now! But it's supposed to go up to 59 so maybe it'll warm up quickly (it's on 7:30 right now...)

Nicky sent her fat/skinny pics to me. I'm going to try to play around and see how I can crop them before I put the on the site. BTW Nicky...your "fat" pic isn't all that bad! You don't really look fat to me!

I'm assuming Mary & Andy are having fun at the Casino and will take us all out with their winnings when they return!

Susie mentioned the carb thing.....thank goodness that craze is over! I know lo-carb diets "melted" the weight off - but so unhealthy! And who could stick to that anyway? I'm just trying to eat what I want - make healthier choices - but just eat LESS! Mom told me that years ago. She said her OBGYN (Bruce) told her - eat as you normally would - just cut it in half and you'll lose weight. We're just used to such big portions these days! I remember when I first got married and started filling my plate up to match what Pat had on his. I never used to eat that much. And it became a habit. I swear - the small plate thing is helping me immensely. That and slowing down. (You know us Grant's - we're speed eaters!) Paula can vouch for that...I think Michael is the fastest of us all!)

Oh - and those southwest salads at Wegman's? Didn't know about that! I was totally bummed when McDonald's stopped selling theirs! It was awesome! I'll have to check it out!

Last thing - check out the latest link on the side bar - Hungry Girl. It's an awesome site full of great info!

And I'm going to start sending a reminder each day about the site. Some of you have gone AWOL! And Debbie - let us know how WW is going!

haha, my fat pic is fat for me aunt laurie. The weight difference from the first picture to the second is about 40 lbs.!!! (and am considered overweight by the BMI standards) I shy away from the camera these days so I will try to keep looking for a more obvious fat picture haha.

I am really glad the carb craze is over as well. I never bought into it, but was annoyed that other people did. Everyone who did it lost a little weight, but also looked really sick. Don't give up carbs, but def learn about simple carbs and try to cut those out. Stick to the complex ones.

A site I went to says it's supposed to be in the 40's by the time we start walking, so that could be good. Just dress warm!

I am starting to feel thinner and more toned. And hey, it's about how we feel isn't it!? Even if you only loose 5 lbs through all of this, if you feel better, then it was worth it!

The walk was great (you slackers missed a good time!)

We drove to Spencerport (Me, Nicky, Paula & Sarah) and left my car there. Popped into the diner and had some healthy fare then walked 7 1/2 miles back to Paula's. The sun was shining and we yakked the whole time - as we always do - so the time flew by.

Paula will be on her cruise next weekend but hoping the rest of you will show up for the other hike. Speaking of which...after visiting the website Nicky mentioned...is this a SINGLES group? How did you hear about it? Just want to make sure before we show up and people want to start dating us or something!

No it's not a singles group haha.

CREATED AS A FORUM FOR ACTIVE, IMAGINATIVE, FREE-SPIRITED INDIVIDUALS TO MEET, SOCIALIZE AND ENJOY A WIDE RANGE OF ACTIVITIES,THE ROCHESTER AREA VARIED EVENTS NETWORK IS ALWAYS ON THE LOOKOUT FOR NEW IDEAS, ACTIVITIES AND ENERGETIC MEMBERS WILLING TO GET INVOLVED: AS HOSTS, WITH IDEA BRAINSTORMING AND RECRUITMENT OF LIKE-MINDED NEW MEMBERS! WE RESPECT OUR MEMBERS EVENT SUGGESTIONS AND BELIEVE THAT PROMOTING OTHER MEETUPS AND HOLDING CO-EVENTS WITH THEM IS THE KEY TO MAKING NEW FRIENDS AND "BEING ALL WE CAN BE" (UNLIKE SOME OTHER MEETUPS WHERE MEMBERS MUST KISS UP TO THE ORGANIZER TO MAINTAIN GOOD STANDING)! RAVEN: SETTING THE PACE FOR ROCHESTER NY MEETUP GROUPS!!! FLY OUR FRIENDLY SKIES...WE NEVER OVERBOOK!!!

That's one description. I think it is just a common interest group for people who want to do stuff around rochester. They call themselves "Raven" (ROCHESTER AREA VARIED EVENTS NETWORK). A married couple is part of the group as well... If they are lame we can just hike on with out them. The crescent trails are open to anyone.

The whole site where I found the hike is devoted to different meet up groups. Like single moms, or Knight hawks Fans or hikers, etc. They do have some singles groups on there, but from what I read i'm pretty sure this one is open to anyone.
